Throughout the inspection constant reference was made to the positive impact of external support on the school. I have been impressed at the calibre and speed of responses to emails, written reports being provided and the thoroughness of all visits.
In particular, when challenging situations arose, the support of BDSIP ensured I was supported and enabled me to take effective and suitable action. Nicola has always shown a good understanding of our school and areas that we have identified for improvement. This has ensured the implementation of any changes has been smooth and well received by all staff.
We are still early in our SEND journey as a fairly new primary school. Together we have been able to map out stage two provision across the school.
Our next steps are to provide structured training to staff linked to our priorities. Our Adviser has brought experience and knowledge which has supported building our network with a range of specialists and linked us to schools at similar stages or slightly ahead of us to help strengthen our provision.
I look forward to growing the partnership over the coming months. In addition to the very positive evaluation, there have been several members of staff that have mentioned the impact it has had on them both professionally and personally. I definitely think that many schools would really benefit from having a similar session.
Her links with other agencies have also helped us to quickly track down possible children missing education CME. Feedback from the children reflected this…They were really engaged with the speakers, who came across as passionate about their careers. Feedback from the children was all positive. They found it particularly interesting that many jobs were not 9 to 5. They spoke to me about the fact the people travel with their jobs. I think overall the children were interested and inspired by the speakers.
Pathways and Professions workshops for students have inspired and informed many students as they explore their aspirations. Our assigned Careers Adviser goes the extra mile in supporting individual students in their research. Every student receives individual information, advice and guidance as well as a wealth of opportunities to experience and learn more about the world of work. Pathway talks and professional workshops expose students to careers they may not have heard of and inspire them to be the best they can be.
Our Careers Adviser helps the students with every step of decision-making, providing the personal one-to-one support they need. I gained vital employability skills such as communication, team leading and perseverance. It has given me a better understanding of my strengths and weaknesses and I feel more confident in handling new situations. The evaluations are a real pleasure to read.
The BDSIP service has been fundamental in providing training and support to teachers to ensure that every teacher is a confident and competent programmer. This has resulted in increased confidence when planning and teaching computing, leading to good quality learning and outcomes for the pupils.
As well as running CPD sessions for staff our teachers have also benefitted from having additional support via email with issues that have arisen. Gillian has gone above and beyond to support teaching and learning at our school. Support goes beyond reasonable expectations and is tailored to our requirements, which means that we can work strategically and efficiently on the outcomes and needs of our pupils. Working with Gillian is always rewarding and enjoyable.
There has been a lot of confusion and worry around the GDPR and the team has provided clear and straightforward information and advice which has been very effective in allaying our issues and ensuring we have a structured pathway to compliance with the new laws. The staff training has also been excellent; presented in a clear, concise, easy to digest way. This has provided clarity to staff as there has been a lot of misinformation around GDPR, particularly in the press.
Overall, we are very happy with the service and would highly recommend the support to other schools. They are always there to help with their knowledge and expertise and if ever I ask a question that cannot be answered they will always investigate to find the answer for me..
Lina and Hansa are extremely helpful with any queries I may have during census time and throughout the year. Always accessible, queries are answered quickly and efficiently with appropriate sign posting for further information if required. Expert clerking has enabled us to run more effective and efficient meetings. Professional minutes provide good evidence of our governing body holding school leadership to account, fulfilling statutory duties and meeting requirements of external bodies, e.
The training sessions have been planned so that they are not too long and are information packed and to the point. The trainer has been able to draw on their own experiences of being a headteacher to make the training very live and relevant. I have even gone back to my own governing body to recommend the training and request everyone attend, even those governors that have been governors for many years.
Training opportunities enable all governors, experienced and less experienced, to develop their skills, keep abreast of new developments and network with other governors, which is really important in an ever-changing educational climate.
